VietNamNet Bridge – Right after Windows 8 made its debut in the Vietnamese market, technology firms have also marketed laptop models with touch screens, priced at between 8 million and 20 million dong.
Touch screen laptops have been available at big hi-tech product distribution chains, including Tran Anh, Ben and Hanoi Computer. The products bear different famous brands namely Asus, Samsung, Acer and HP. However, the products from Asus have been prevailing in both the low-cost and high end market segments.
Among the products priced at below 10 million dong, Asus has Asus VivoBook X202E with CT141H and CT044H series equipped with duo core microprocessor. The products have been selling at 8.59-8.7 million dong.
Those, who want high end products, can choose Asus VivoBook models which are equipped with stronger processor Core i3, priced at 11.6 million dong.
Asus S400CA-CA004H has been sold at 14.9 million dong, while Acer V5-571P with Core i5 at 13.9-14.9 million dong.
The products with the sale prices of over 20 million dong prove to be choosier about customers. Samsung NP540U3C now has been sold at 26 million dong, HP Elitebook 2760P Core i7 2640M at 27 million dong.
The expensive products valued at over 20 million dong all have strong configuration with Core i7 1.9 GHz, RAM 8 GB DDR3 and hybrid hardware which includes one SSD 24 GB and one HDD 500G.
Distributors all have said that the products priced at 8-15 million dong remain the best sellers, because they fit the pockets of the majority of customers. Meanwhile, the specific features and strong configuration are not really necessary for them.
The distributors have also said that the first-generation touch screen laptops running on Windows 8 have been selling well, partially because they are not as expensive as initially predicted.
Prior to that, experts believed that the products would be priced no less than 10 million dong. Some of them even thought that the new technology products would be sold at 15 million dong at least.
Observers have said that touch screen laptops show many advantages. They can access to applications, zoom in or drag the websites not in use, while no need to use mouse.
They have also commented that touch screen laptops would be the growing tendency, because the touch-technology has become so popular. Once Vietnamese people have used smart phones and tablets, the observers have every reason to believe that touch-screen laptops would be warmly welcomed in Vietnam.
Talking about the laptop series using Windows 8, Dinh Anh Huan, General Director of Dienmay.com said the products have been integrated with the operation system would help users feel the convenience and differences to the utmost.
Sources have said that some computer firms like Acer, Lenovo, HP and Samsung plan to launch some more touch screen laptops into the market. These could be Acer Aspire S7, HP Envy 4 TouchSmart, HP Spectre XT TouchSmart. However, these would be high end products with the sale prices of between 18 million dong and 25 million dong.
“If you don’t need a computer for graphics processor with strong configuration, and you just need Internet access, Office software and Photoshop, you should buy popular products which have reasonable prices,” a salesman said.
However, there are not many choices for the market segment, because Asus remains the only manufacturer which has put low cost products on sale.
